Wonderful, it fixed its self.
Some changes had to be made to Brian Chungs code in order for it to run on a mac. The method with the getForcedWidth() and getForcedHeight() calls need to be removed as they are only needed on a windows machine to get round a video problem. Again you need a mac version of the JMyron library available here. libJMyron.jnilib compiled for intel macs.
Also if you are running this on a mac make sure your com port has been changed. I changed from windows port "com 6" refered to in the code to my mac port, "/dev/cu.usbserial-A900705s".
I Have now got something which is a step closer to what i need to achieve. My latest video shows you the results thus far which is an 8 *8 video display representation of an LED matrix responding to camera movement.
